SUBUTEX 8MG white pill known as buprenorphine (oral/sublingual)

Subutex 8mg white pill has a generic name of Buprenorphine and it’s an opioid medication. Buprenorphine oral/sublingual generally given under the tongue and it is used to treat opioid addiction.

There are also some other types of buprenorphine which are used to treat moderate to severe pain. But SUBUTEX should not be taken primarily as a pain medication.

Some Common Side Effects of SUBUTEX 8MG round white pill (BUPRENORPHINE SUBLINGUAL)

  • Constipation, nausea, vomiting;
  • Headache;
  • Increased sweating;
  • Sleep problems (insomnia); or
  • Body pain.

Patient should get medical help if they feel any signs of an allergic reaction

  • Hives on any body part
  • If they have difficulty in breathing
  • Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat are also some common side effects of SUBUTEX (BUPRENORPHINE SUBLINGUAL)

Some Serious Side effects of SUBUTEX 8MG (BUPRENORPHINE SUBLINGUAL) or Opioid medicine

  • It can slow or stop patient’s breathing or even death can happen.
  • Patient’s caretaker should take immediate emergency medical help
  • If a patient is having slow breathing with quite long pauses.
  • Patient’s lips turning blue.
  • Patient is hard to wake up.

Opioid withdrawal symptoms are –shivering increased sweating, feeling hot or cold, runny nose, goose bumps, watery eyes, diarrhea, and muscle pain;

  • Breathing that stops during sleep, noisy breathing, sighing, shallow breathing;
  • Weak pulse or slow heartbeat;
  • Feeling like you might pass out called a light-headed feeling;
  • Chest pain with trouble in breathing;
  • Low cortisol levels– loss of appetite, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, worsening tiredness or weakness; or
  • Liver problems–upper stomach pain, itching, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).

Seek emergency medical attention if you have symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as: agitation, hallucinations, muscle stiffness, twitching, loss of coordination, fever, sweating, shivering, fast heart rate or diarrhea.

OVERUSAGE OF OPIOID MEDICINE CAN CAUSE ADDICTION, OVERDOSE, OR DEATH.

Keep it out of reach of other people.

If SUBUTEX 8mg round white pill is taken during pregnancy it may cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms in the newborn baby.

Combination alcohol with SUBUTEX white pill or any other drug that causes slow breathing or drowsiness can be very dangerous and even life threatening.

You should not use SUBTEX buprenorphine if you are allergic to it, or:

If you have consumed another narcotic drug within past 4 hours.

Tell your doctor if you have ever had any of the treatments given below:

  • Methadone treatment;
  • Breathing problems, sleep apnea;
  • Any liver disease (especially hepatitis C or B);
  • Abnormal curvature of the spinal cord that causes breathing problems;
  • Kidney related disease;
  • Enlarged prostate, or urination problems;
  • Brain tumor or a head injury;
  • Mental illness, alcoholism, hallucinations; or
  • Problems with your gall bladder, adrenal gland, stomach, or thyroid.

SUBUTEX Buprenorphine can pass into breast milk too and may cause drowsiness, and breathing problems in infants.

Subutex 8mg white pill Buprenorphine is restricted for use below 18 years of age.

HOW TO USE SUBUTEX 8MG white pill (BUPRENORPHINE SUBLINGUAL)?

Thoroughly read all the medication guides and strictly follow the directions given on the prescription label. Your doctor may change your dose periodically according to your medical condition. Use the medicine exactly as directed. Never use SUBUTEX 8mg round white pill buprenorphine in larger amounts, or for longer than prescribed time duration.

Subutex 8 milligram Buprenorphine sublingual is usually taken for a short period of time only at the start of treatment for addiction. Most people are later switched to any other medicine that contains buprenorphine (Bunavail, Sublocade, Suboxone, Zubsolv).

Sharing opioid medicine with another person is highly restricted and could be life threatening, especially someone with a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a safe place where no one can get to it. Selling or giving away opioid medicine is a crime.

Handle the SUBUTEX 8mg round white pill tablet with dry hands. Place the tablet under your tongue and allow it to dissolve fully with your mouth closed. Never make a mistake of chewing the tablet or swallow it as a whole.

If the doctor has prescribed more than 2 tablets in a single dose, place the exact number of tablets under your tongue at the same time and allow them to dissolve completely.

Do not eat or drink anything until the tablet has completely dissolved in your mouth.

You may need frequent visit to diagnostics for blood tests to check your liver function.

In case of a surgery, tell the surgeon before time that you are using SUBUTEX 8mg round white pill  buprenorphine.

Never break or crush a Subutex 8 milligram buprenorphine pill to inhale the powder or don’t mix it into a liquid to inject the drug directly into your vein. Doing so could result in death.

WHAT IF I MISS A DOSE (SUBUTEX)?

Take the medicine dose as soon as you can, but if it is almost time for your next dose skip the missed dose. Don’t take two doses at a time.

OVERDOSE OF SUBUTEX

A Subutex 8mg round white pill buprenorphine overdose can be fatal, especially if someone using the medicine without a prescription and also in a child.

Some overdose symptoms are extreme drowsiness or weakness, slow heart rate, weak pulse, cold or clammy skin, pinpoint pupils very slow breathing, or coma.

WHAT OTHER DRUGS WILL AFFECT SUBUTEX (BUPRENORPHINE SUBLINGUAL)?

You may have withdrawal symptoms or breathing problems if you start or stop taking certain other medicines. Tell your doctor if you also use a heart or blood pressure medication, seizure medication, antibiotic, antifungal medication, or medicine to treat HIV or hepatitis C.

-Any allergy or cold medicines, bronchodilator asthma/COPD medication, or a diuretic (“water pill”);

-Irritable bowel syndrome, medicines for motion sickness, or overactive bladder;

-Prescription coughs medicine, any other narcotic medications or, opioid pain medicine;

-Sedatives like alprazolam, lorazepam, Xanax, Valium–diazepam, Klonopin, Versed, and others;

-Use of any drugs that make your breathing slow or makes you fell sleepy–a sleeping pill, medicine to treat mood disorders or mental illness, muscle relaxer ; or

-Serotonin affecting drugs –a stimulant, or medicine for depression, migraine headaches, serious infections, or nausea and vomiting, Parkinson’s disease.
