It’s an antiviral medication that works by blocking the activity of influenza virus types A and B in the body.

A yearly flu vaccine is recommended for pregnant women by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Make sure that you will not use this medicine in place of the yearly flu shot.

HOW TO TAKE TAMIFLU 30 MG (OSELTAMIVIR)?
Always take the medicine as directed in the medication guide and read the prescription label thoroughly. Use it the way you told you so.
Start using Tamiflu 30 mg as soon as possible after first flu symptoms emerge such as muscle aches, fever, sore throat, chills, and stuffy or runny nose.
Take the capsule with enough water.
Shake the oral suspension liquid well before use. Use the dosing syringe given with the medicine and avoid measuring it in any other cup or spoon.
Take the medication with food if it upsets your stomach.

For the treatment of flu symptoms: Take Tamiflu every 12 hours for about 5 days.
For the prevention of flu symptoms: Take it every 24 hours for about 10 days or as prescribed by the doctor.

WHAT TO AVOID WHILE TAKING TAMIFLU?
When you take this medication avoid taking a nasal flu vaccine (FluMist) within 48 hours of its use. Tamiflu 30 mg can interfere with the flu vaccine (FluMist), reducing the efficiency of the vaccine. Follow the doctor’s instructions.

Various other drugs may affect its efficiency including prescribed and over-the-counter drugs, herbal products or vitamins. Tell your doctor all the medications you are undergoing or have undergone in the past.
